Channel Predictions For 2018: The Drivers Of Change

As part of a series of Prediction blogs for 2018, we interviewed Tim Curran, CEO of the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) on his views of what this year might bring for the channel.

The pace of technology industry change continues to accelerate - and with it comes unprecedented opportunity as well as significant potential for disconnects and dislocation.

Our own recent survey published on 5th January 2018, shows the following:

  • Digital technologies continue to transform the way business is conducted and IT is sold, with increased emphasis on multi-vendor solutions that solve specific industry challenges
  • Cloud has become "connecting tissue for IT," with more integration between historically separate solutions thanks to advances in public, private and hybrid cloud solutions
  • Security needs have broadened beyond the network, as cloud becomes an intrinsic solution driver and risks inherently soar
  • End-user demand for access to information anywhere, anytime, is fueling growth in cloud networking, security, IoT and more

Distributors are uniquely positioned to help established vendors grow in new ways, while also helping up-and-comers gain a foothold in this enormous and dynamic market.

My resolution for the new year is to stop - from time to time - and smell the roses!
