The European cybersecurity landscape is evolving
rapidly in 2024, shaped by various regional dynamics and emerging
trends. Managed Service Providers (MSPs) are thriving in Northern
Europe, particularly in the UK and Germany, where their ability to
tackle complex service challenges is highly valued.
However, Southern Europe, including Italy and
Spain, presents a different picture. Here, cultural resistance to an
ownership-driven mindset—where businesses proactively address
cybersecurity challenges—limits the potential for MSP adoption. A
shift towards proactive problem-solving is crucial to unlocking the
growth potential of MSPs in these markets.
On the other hand, Small and Medium Resellers
(SMRs) are stepping into the spotlight. Traditionally dominated by
Corporate Resellers, the enterprise security market is now seeing a
decline in revenue from these larger players, as SMRs gain traction.
SMRs are excelling by providing tailored, localised support to small
and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), which are increasingly dedicating
specific budgets to cybersecurity. This shift is evident in the
impressive growth of license sales for larger seat numbers:
SMRs are not just catering to SMBs but are also
making inroads into the enterprise space, thanks in part to the
growing popularity of the Virtual Chief Information Security Officer
(vCISO) model. This approach enables businesses with limited budgets
to access strategic cybersecurity leadership, levelling the playing
field against larger competitors.
As the European cybersecurity market advances,
we believe that businesses, vendors, and resellers must remain
agile, adapting to shifts in technology, strategy, and demand.
Whether it’s the rise of SMRs, the regional expansion of MSPs, or
breakthroughs in network security and infrastructure protection,
2025 promises to be a transformative year for cybersecurity across Europe.
